I've spent over 20 years in UK construction, and I write the number down before the document gets a sentence.
The file is free. You do not need to sign up to download it or to copy the words. Replace every bracket. Do not leave an example price in a real document, because this template does not contain one.

Before you send it
These are the headings from the quote template guide. A quote is not an invoice. What a bill must contain is on the invoice template and on GOV.UK's invoice page (opens in a new tab).
Say whether you are VAT registered, and whether this price includes VAT, has VAT on top, or has no VAT because you are not registered. The words have to match how you will invoice. GOV.UK's VAT rates page (opens in a new tab) lists the standard rate at 20%. Use the rate you charge. If both you and a contractor customer are VAT registered, the VAT reverse charge guide is the separate check. Do not add the reverse charge sentence to a householder quote.
The Word and PDF files include a short note after the blank. Do not send that note to the customer. Paste from the copy button if you only want the blank in Google Docs.
